Using an attractant is critical to the performance of your Mosquito Magnet®. Once mosquitoes sense the carbon dioxide from the Mosquito Magnet®, they need secondary mosquito attractants, Octenol or R-Octenol, to hone in on the trap.

Octenol - General Facts
What is it?
Octenol is an EPA registered secondary mosquito attractant that mimics human breath. It is used in Mosquito Magnet® traps to attract biting insects including mosquitoes and no-see-ums.

What Does It Attract?
Octenol attracts most mosquito species, including salt marsh mosquitoes, as well as no-see-ums and black flies. The insects are attracted by the Octenol and are drawn to the Mosquito Magnet® trap where they are captured, then dehydrate and die.
Which Mosquito Magnet® attractant is right for you?
Those who live in the United States and Canada should use Octenol to attract mosquitoes, no-see-ums and black flies.
Octenol is also known to lure in the Asian Tiger mosquito.
How Often Should the Cartridge Be Replaced?
How long does Octenol last? The Octenol cartridge should be replaced every 21 days. After 21 days of use, the cartridge appears the same; however, it will no longer be effective as the Octenol attractant will have been released.
The catch rate will be reduced if the mosquito Octenol attractant is not changed.

R-Octenol - General Facts
What is it?
R-Octenol is an EPA registered secondary attractant that mimics human breath. Much like Octenol, it is used in Mosquito Magnet® traps to attract biting insects including mosquitoes and no-see-ums. However, the active ingredient in R-Octenol lasts for 30 days- lasting 40% longer than regular Octenol!
Why should I use it along with the Mosquito Magnet® trap?
What attracts mosquitoes best? The attractant R-Octenol increases your catch rates up to 10 times! Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance; they may transmit mosquito diseases that are a serious health threat to people and pets. It will lure biting insects to the Mosquito Magnet® trap and away from you and your family.
Because R-Octenol lasts for 30 days, it is ideal for Executive Trap owners running their trap on Mode 4, as the propane tank also lasts 30 days in this mode.

What is it?
ATRAKTA® is an EPA registered secondary attractant that lures mosquitoes in with scents that they find irresistible. It can be used with Mosquito Magnet® traps with the included adapter, or any outdoor mosquito traps, to attract mosquitoes. By using a powerful combination of Lactic Acid, Octenol, and Ammonium Bicarbonate, this lure maximizes the power of your trap.
Why should I use it along with the Mosquito Magnet® trap?
Atrakta® is designed using three components that mimic human odors which naturally attract mosquitoes towards the trap. With Lactic Acid, Octenol, and Ammonium Bicarbonate all working together to lure the mosquitoes towards the trap and away from you and your family, you’ll notice fewer pests bothering you. Mosquitoes are not only a nuisance; they may transmit mosquito borne diseases that are a serious health threat to people and pets.
What Does It Attract?
Atrakta® attracts mosquitoes, including those which may transmit West Nile virus, Encephalitis, Zika virus, and the Chikungunya virus. Once lured to the trap, they get sucked in to be eliminated.
R-Octenol - Attracts most mosquito species in coastal areas and Northern regions of the US while lasting 40% longer than Octenol.
Atrakta3N - Attracts aggressive, day-biting species such as the Asian Tiger mosquito. Ideal for southern US regions, including Hawaii.
Which attractant is right for you?
Those who live anywhere in the United States can successfully lure mosquitoes to your trap. This attractant works to attract biting insects during all times of the day or night.
How Often Should the Pod Be Replaced?
The Atrakta® Pod should be replaced every 16 days. After 16 days, the lure won’t work as efficiently since the attractant becomes depleted.
The catch rate will be reduced if the attractant is not changed.
