These worked great until the got rid of R-octenol. Dont waste your money now, catch rate in coastal NC is 1/3 what it was before they discontinued r-octenol. Just by a fogger, this is not a cost affective option now. Almost impossible to get parts, they want you to send it in and that is the cost of a new unit.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you've been disappointed with your recent experience.
We understand that many longtime customers preferred R-Octenol. While it is no longer manufactured, we do offer ATRAKTA® Attractant Pods and Octenol Attractant as alternative attractants for our mosquito traps. Performance can vary depending on mosquito species, local environmental conditions, and trap placement, so trying a different attractant may help improve results in your area.
We also appreciate your comments regarding replacement parts and service. Feedback like yours is valuable and will be shared with our product team as we continue to evaluate our products and support options.
Thank you again for sharing your experience.
I have struggled to get this thing to work. Only 1 time did the light stay solid green and next day fast flashing. I have called the number provided and spoke to someone in broken English about how to make it work. That didn’t end well and gave up. I have watched YouTube videos and have tried my best. But something is wrong with this unit. I want to believe in it, but can’t get it to work. Shouldn’t be this difficult

I just purchased my fourth unit. Why? Because it works. I live on a half acre parcel and can sit on both my front and rear porch with virtually no mosquitos (and they generally love me). My neighbors also reap the rewards of my unit and are relatively mosquito free. Now, the downside. Living mosquito free is not cheap. The units seem to last bout four years. When the first one stopped working, I sent it in for repair. By the time I shipped the unit and paid for the repair I had spent over half the cost of the unit - which was still over four yers old. Now I just buy a new one (which by the way did not come with even a single octenol cartridge). I generally go through about six tanks of propane a year ($20 each) and a new octenol cartridge each time ($12 each) - $192/year. If you assume the unit has a four year life span (at approx $400) the annual cost is another $100/year. So based on my experience, the cost of being “mosquito free” is around $300/year or $40-$45/month. A luxury if you can afford it, but go in with your eyes wide open. For me, being able to fully enjoy being outside all night without being eaten alive by mosquitos is worth the cost.
After 3 years I had to replace the power supply. Worked briefly and then would not start. Used YouTube videos to take apart and troubleshoot. The nozzle into the combustion chamber is black and clogged. Tried cleaning it. Opened up the combustion chamber. A bunch of residue clogged the exhaust end of it. The closest service tech is 2 provinces away. He was very helpful. He is sending a new nozzle and a nylon bolt. Spent hours trying to get it to work. So far. A huge waste of my time. Give the new nozzle resolves the issue. Never got rid of mosquitoes in the garden anyway
We’ve been using this for about 6 weeks so far in the main part of my backyard which has dense vegetation and trees. I used to get upwards of 15 bites in the evenings - now, maybe I get 1-2 very periodically! One full propane tank lasted over a month. Hope this Mosquito Magnet lasts for many seasons!
Not impressed at all. After using the Liberty Plus for 15+ years, the Patriot Plus is not worth the money. Worked when we bought it. Last summer. Now, after doing numerous maintenance stuff, Connor get it to run. Waste of money. Waste of time.
I do not recommend it.
After about 2-3 weeks of use, I am at this point calilng it a waste of funds and propane. Caught so few mosquitos. Very disappointed to this point. Moved it, replaced cartridge, and will see what happens. So far, not impressed.
