Can I use Mosquito Magnet with a fixed propane line?
Question by: David Roe on May 10, 2025, 6:52 PM
Thank you very much for contacting us.
We recommend using the Mosquito Magnet with a standard 20 lb. propane tank, as this ensures proper pressure and safe operation.

Bonjour je viens d’acheter un appareil mosquito executive en France que j’ai amené dans ma maison en Grèce : je ne trouve pas de butane en Grèce mais du propane : puis je utiliser une bouteille de propane de 13 kgs sans endommager l’appareil
Question by: Decroux on May 16, 2025, 2:44 AM
Bonjour,

What is the daily consumption rate of propane?
Question by: David Coffin on Jul 27, 2025, 8:22 PM
Thank you for contacting us!
The daily consumption rate of propane depends on the mode being used. A propane tank should be changed every 21-30 days based on usage.

I have two Executive mosquito magnets. They definitely clear out the gnats and mosquitoes in the areas I can use them. I can only them in my front yard. If I place them in my backyard, they stop working. The only difference I can think of is wind. The dominant wind blows from my backyard towards the front yard and averages 5 - 10 mph. But if can easily top 25 mph during a rain storm. I frequently can't even get the units to start in the backyard and if I do, they don't keep running for long. However, in the front yard, where the house blocks most of the wind, they will usually start after one or two tries and tend to keep running (though sometimes they stop if we have a heavy rain storm, possibly due to a wind direction change). I've tried pointing the magnets in different directions, so the wind doesn't blow directly into the vents, but that doesn't seem to help. I bought an older version of the executive (different model name back then but pretty much the same), probably 20 years ago and it worked great in the backyard before it died after a couple of years (I don't think I stored it correctly over a winter). This makes me wonder if there's been an internal design change. Is there a limit to the wind speed the Executive can handle?
The front yard is mosquito and gnat free. I really would like to place a unit in the backyard, upwind from the house, so I can enjoy our backyard. But so far it seems I wasted my money on the unit for the backyard. Do you have any suggestions or should I give up on the backyard and sell my second unit? Thank you.

Airflow plays a very important role in the performance of the Executive Mosquito Magnet®. Please ensure that the side vents, plume tube, and net are kept clean, as proper maintenance is essential. The Cold Temperature Indicator will shut down the trap when the engine (not the outside air) reaches 50°F, and it will automatically restart once the engine warms back up to 55°F.
For best results, trap placement should always work with the prevailing wind. For example, if the wind on your property moves from east to west, the unit should be placed on the eastern side of the yard. This allows the wind to carry the CO₂ and attractant plume upwind into the area you wish to protect, drawing mosquitoes toward the trap rather than allowing them to linger near people.
Once near the trap, mosquitoes are pulled in through the trumpet-shaped nozzle by vacuum action and collected in the net, where they will dehydrate and die within 24–48 hours. With correct placement, you should begin noticing results within 7–10 days. After 4–6 weeks of continuous use, many of the egg-laying females will be eliminated, greatly reducing the overall mosquito population.
Please note: as the mosquito population declines, you may see fewer insects caught in the net, which is an indication that the trap is working effectively.
