  Same problem July 11, 2011

I did not purchase this trap because when I tried it in the store, the door would not trip. It seemed that the length of movement of the rod was not sufficient to pull the trip arm off of the wire. My wife and I tried it numerous times and could not get the door to trigger. I think that I could have gotten it to work by making some adjustments to the mechanism, but I didn't want to mess with it so I passed up on buying it.

Thank you for taking the time to submit an online review for the Havahart® Large One Door Raccoon Trap (model #1081).  We are sorry to hear that the Havahart® at your local retailer appeared to be dysfunctional.  Our manufacturing specifications have not changed since we started manufacturing this trap 70+ years ago.  This is our largest size trap designed and field tested to successfully catch raccoons, small dogs, foxes and similar-size nuisance animals.  The trigger pan of this trap takes only a small amount of pressure to release the trap door.  For it to take a great deal of pressure to release the trap door is very unusual.

  Good Trap July 10, 2011

Within 12 hours of getting my 1081 trap I caught a raccoon. Another the next night. Maybe some of my chickens will survive. It seems well built. I would recomend this to a friend.
