Review RateHoped it would work better
I was eager to try the Mosquito Magnet. Almost every time our family tried to enjoy leisure time in the back yard we would be bitten by mosquitoes. I set the trap up and followed all of the instructions to obtain optimum results and we still have mosquitoes and they still bite us after one month of having the trap. I recently performed the 21 day maintenance as instructed to achieve maximum results. I still get swarmed by mosquitoes when entering the back yard. I'm going to continue using the trap as recommend until the end of the season in the hopes that it performs as we hoped it would. Placement is a key factor in the success of our Mosquito Magnet® traps. For best results, we recommend placing the trap 30-40 feet away from where people are spending the majority of their time in the yard, as well as upwind from breeding area. This will help stop mosquitoes before they get to you!

Too early to rate however some observations of mine are: 1. Disappointed that it was not shipped with lurex3. My shipping address should have keyed you that i live in tje zone you recommend lurex3 be used. Also I ordered two lurex3 for monthly maintenance. Someone should have noticed and used lurex3 with the original package. 2. Initial start up was good but within 24 hours it plugged. I learned to open the propane tank reeaallly slooowwly. Hasn't plugged since. 3. Mot many skeeters in the trap yet. I guess that is because I used the chemical pack you shipped instead of the lurex3 spares I ordered. All of our traps are pre-packages with one complimentary Octenol attractant. This attractant attracts most mosquito species and is recommended for northern climates as well as locations within 50 miles of the coast.

Bought a Patriot Plus bundle. 3 containers of Lurex were sent to me per the map. I should have paid attention to the mosquitos that bite here, none of which are tiger mosquitos. So l have 3 containers of Lurex that l paid for that l cannot use. I put the Octenol in the trap and got approximately 10 mosquitos in 2 weeks. Thank you for sharing this experience. The appropriate lure to use for a Mosquito Magnet® trap will vary depending on geographical location and the types of mosquitoes in the area.
Lurex3™ is designed to be used in Southern regions where more aggressive day biting mosquitoes are present. An example of these mosquitoes is the Asian Tiger mosquito.
Octenol is designed for Northern and coastal regions where dusk and dawn biting mosquitoes are present. An example of these mosquitoes is the Salt Marsh mosquito. If your location is within 50 miles of the coast, we recommend using Octenol, even if located in a southern region.

I purchased at a local home improvement store, assembled it according to the instructions. When I turned it on nothing happened until I wiggled the power cord where it connects to the machine. I moved it to my shop where I had cool air and plenty of light. After carefully inspecting and reconnecting the cord it appeared to be OK. It came on and ran for about 30 minutes before cutting off. Wiggling the power cord made it work again. I called customer service and was told to return it. That unit was the only one they had so I went home with a refund. With proper care and maintenance, these traps are designed to last up to 3-5 years. If the trap is not starting up, we would recommend contacting our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-953-5737 for troubleshooting assistance. We also have Certified Service Centers across the country where traps can be sent for repair.

Mosquitoes are poor fliers, so the suction of this trap does not need to be strong to pull them inside. With proper placement and the use of a secondary attractant, these traps can be very successful in eliminating mosquitoes in a yard.
