Q.Should mosquito magnet be used continuously day & night? How many hours can be expected from a 20lb propane container? How long do cartridges last? How much do they cost? Do all models used extra cartridges?
A.

In the beginning, we recommend running the trap 24/7 to break the mosquito breeding cycle and to produce the best results. A significant reduction in the mosquito population should be seen in about four weeks.

We recommend changing the propane tank and the attractant every 21 days. Only one attractant should be used in the trap at a time.

Q.I am interested in purchasing the Mosquito Magnet Patriot for Northern US, However we have noticed that we have Leopard & Tiger mosquito's. Will the R-Octenol work on these Mosquito's or do we need to buy the Lurex 3 to clear our yard of these pests?
A.

The Octenol and R-Octenol will attract most mosquitoes.  Our Lurex3™ was developed for the Asian Tiger Mosquito, which are most often found in southern regions. We do recommend using Lurex3™ in northern climates if day-biting mosquitoes are present.

Q.For shipping purposes, how much does the MM Patriot weight? What are its height, weight, depth dimensions?
A.

This trap weighs approximately 22.5 lbs and is approximately 17"H x 20"W x 16"D when boxed.

Q.What size propane tank does it require?
A.

We recommend the use of a 20 lb. propane tank. No other tank sizes should be used with the Mosquito Magnet® traps.

Q.If I understand correctly, the unit makes c02 from propane to attract Mosquitoes, so why is the lure attractant needed?
A.

The Carbon Dioxide emitted from the trap is the primary attractant, which mimics human breath. Using a secondary attractant of either Lurex3 or Octenol (depending on geographical location) will help to increase the catch rate by 10 times as these attractants also mimic human scent and sweat.
