Dengue Fever Dengue Fever is a very serious mosquito-borne disease comprised of four different strains. If not treated promptly, or if another strain of the disease is contracted, an more severel disease, DHF, or Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever will almost always follow, resulting in death or permanent disabilities of the victim. | | Symptoms Those infected with Dengue Fever can suffer from a spectrum of illnesses ranging from a viral flu to severe and fatal Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Dengue Fever causes an extraordinarily painful ailment that exists in four known strains or serotypes. Although infection and recovery from one of the four strains may result in immunity to that strain, subsequent infections from one of the other three strains often leads to DHF. DHF causes severe internal bleeding, shock, and circulatory collapse, and is usually fatal to children. This more serious illness is one of the main reasons for hospitalization and death of children in many afflicted countries.
